A water park in Tennessee is setting up a new roller coaster-like attraction that is sure to be a hit. The water coaster will be the first of its kind in Tennessee and carries a price tag of $6 million! Set to open up this summer, the RiverRush coaster will be unlike any other ride people in the area have ever seen.
Dollywood’s Splash Country is the water park that is bringing in the unique water coaster for its patrons. The adrenaline-pumping ride is made to give families a one of a kind adventure together. The ride combines both a water slide and roller coaster to create the thrilling experience. Riders hop into inflatable toboggan-like rafts, and there are ups and downs just like a roller coaster but with water. The hydromagnetic coaster uses gravity and linear induction motors, essentially a series of magnets, to propel the 10 foot long, four person inflatable rafts along the high speed conveyor.
The water coaster can run seven of the inflatable rafts at once and is controlled by computers underground. The ride is very smooth and exciting, so riders will never know that they are going over magnets and wires. The raft moves at about 15 feet per second during the ride and the whole trip lasts a lengthy minute and twenty seconds!
The RiverRush ride is manufactured by ProSlide Technology and is the company’s fourth-largest water coaster built to date. The ride is very original because they did a great job incorporating the surrounding terrain. Splash Country had an acre of land to add a new attraction, and they hit it out of the park with the RiverRush.
